We are committed to making your first visit as smooth, informative, and comfortable as possible. Here’s what you need to know to prepare for your initial appointment at our endodontic office:
1. What to Bring
- Referral Slip (if provided by your general dentist)
- X-rays (if your referring dentist has provided any)
- Photo ID and Insurance Card
- List of current medications and medical conditions (not necessary if you have already completed the medical history form)
If you are able to complete the registration form we sent prior to your appointment, it would be greatly appreciated. If you need assistance or prefer to fill them out in our office, please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
2. What to Expect
- Your first visit typically includes a consultation and diagnostic evaluation, which involves reviewing your dental and medical history, performing a clinical exam, and taking any necessary x-rays or 3D imaging (CBCT).
- After the evaluation, we will discuss your treatment options, answer any questions you may have, and outlined the next steps.
- In many cases, treatment can begin on the same day as the consultation. However, complex cases or those requiring additional planning may be scheduled for a separate treatment visit.
When scheduling your initial appointment, we will ask whether you are seeking a consultation-only appointment, or a consultation and treatment appointment on the same day. Based on the details you provide (typically your dentist will check the recommended appointment type on the referral slip), we will do our best to coordinate a same-day consult and treatment to save you an extra trip. Most root canal procedures are typically completed in a single visit. If you need a work or school note, please let our receptionist know at check out.
3. Insurance and Payment
- We accept most dental insurance plans and will help you understand your coverage and benefits.
- Any co-pays or fees not covered by insurance are due at the time of service.
- For your convenience, we accept a variety of payment methods, including credit cards and flexible financing options.
4. Medical Conditions and Medications
- Please inform us if any of the following applies to you:
- Artificial heart valves or joints
- History of endocarditis
- Bleeding disorders or use of blood thinners
- Allergies to medications, latex, or anesthesia
- Any other significant medical condition
- If antibiotic pre-medication is required prior to dental treatment, please take it as prescribed before your appointment.
5. Comfort and Care
- Your comfort is our priority. We will walk you through each step of the process and ensure you are at ease. Our goal is to provide a painless root canal experience.
- If you feel anxious about dental treatment, please let us know. We offer sedation options to help you feel more relaxed during treatment.
We look forward to providing you with the highest quality endodontic care. If you have any questions before your visit, please don’t hesitate to contact our office. Your comfort, trust, and well-being are our top priorities.
