Dr. Yangpei Cao is a board-certified endodontist, a specialist in root canal treatment, certified by the American Board of Endodontics—a distinction representing the highest level of achievement in the field. Since 2015, she has gained extensive experience in Endodontics as a clinician, educator, and researcher.
She earned her dental degree in 2011 from the West China School of Stomatology, known as the best dental school in China. She later obtained a Master of Science in Oral Biology from the UCLA School of Dentistry and completed her postgraduate residency in Endodontics at UCLA from 2013 to 2015.
From 2015 to 2019, Dr. Cao served as a full-time clinical professor in the Section of Endodontics at the UCLA School of Dentistry. Since 2019, she has proudly served the El Paso community and currently holds a part-time faculty position at the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, where she is a Clinical Assistant Professor.

Accomplished Educator
At UCLA, Dr. Cao was widely recognized for her contributions to education. She served as course chair for multiple preclinical and clinical courses in Endodontics and was the co-director of the Advanced Clinical Training Program in Endodontics. In addition, she was an active member of twelve academic committees focusing on research and education. She was also co-chair and speaker at the UCLA-UPENN-Yonsei University- Seoul National University International Endodontic Symposium.
Dr. Cao has delivered over thirty invited lectures and presentations, including at prestigious events such as the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) Annual Session and the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Annual Session. She has also lectured internationally, including at the West China International Dental Symposium in China and at Kyung Hee University and Yonsei University in Korea.
Since relocating to El Paso, she continues to educate her peers through presentations at the El Paso Dental Annual Conference, the El Paso Dental Meeting General Session, and the El Paso Del Norte Study Club.
Innovative Researcher
Dr. Cao has authored 13 peer-reviewed publications in the field of endodontics. She was a co-investigator on a $600,000 research grant—”Cell-Based Therapies in Endodontic Regeneration”—awarded by the American Association of Endodontists. Her research in regenerative endodontics, a cutting-edge area of the field, has been published in the prestigious Journal of Dental Research.
One of her publications received an “Honorable Mention” award from the Journal of Endodontics for being among the best articles of 2018. Another article, “Bioceramic Materials and the Changing Concepts in Vital Pulp Therapy,” was featured on the cover of the Journal of the California Dental Association.
The Story Behind Sun Endodontics
Since 2019, Dr. Cao has proudly served the El Paso community as a specialist in root canal treatment. Her first name, “Yang,” means “sun” in Chinese, and “Pei” means “admire.” Inspired by the warm-hearted people and the beautiful desert landscape of the region, she made El Paso her permanent home.
In honor of her roots and her love for the Sun City, she established her own practice, Sun Endodontics. The name reflects both her personal story and her desire to bring warmth and comfort to her patients. The practice is conveniently located at the Edge of Texas, accessible via I-10 and 375, and serves patients across El Paso and neighboring cities in Texas and New Mexico. Dr. Cao hopes to shine like the sun—bringing healing, warmth, and happiness to all who walk through her doors.
Dr. Hsiang-Ming Wang is an endodontist dedicated to providing precise, compassionate, and evidence-based care. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Kaohsiung Medical University in Taiwan and completed a General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs hospital. He later pursued advanced specialty training in Endodontics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
With a strong background in both clinical excellence and academic research, Dr. Wang focuses on saving natural teeth through modern root canal therapy and minimally invasive techniques. He is passionate about ensuring patient comfort by combining advanced technology with a gentle, empathetic approach.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Wang is deeply involved in dental education and international collaboration. He has delivered lectures to dental students and young clinicians in Taiwan, sharing his expertise in contemporary endodontic treatment and his experiences studying abroad. Committed to fostering global professional exchange, he continues to help bridge the dental communities of Taiwan and the United States.
Dr. Wang is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Taiwan Dental Association. Outside the office, he enjoys tennis, skiing, and learning new languages. His goal is to serve the local community with the highest standards of endodontic care and to make every patient’s experience positive and comfortable.
